The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Tajikistan is launching its Sixth Country Programme for 2027–2030, aligned with the UNSDCF framework, the National Development Strategy 2030, the Mid-term Development Programme 2026–2030, ICPD priorities, and the UNFPA Strategic Plan 2026–2029. The programme aims to strengthen human capital, promote gender equality, and advance good governance while supporting Tajikistan in harnessing its demographic dividend. It focuses on reproductive health and rights, gender equality, and population data as key drivers of sustainable development and demographic resilience.

The initiative addresses pressing challenges such as unmet family planning needs, preventable maternal mortality, gender-based violence, harmful practices, discriminatory norms, regional disparities in access to quality services, and fragmented population data systems. Building on lessons from previous programme cycles, it emphasizes integrated policy reforms, systems strengthening, and sustainable financing mechanisms to ensure long-term impact.

Funding will support activities across multiple thematic areas, including communication for development, disability inclusion, engaging men and boys, gender equality and women’s empowerment, monitoring and evaluation, research and data analysis, service provision, training, and youth leadership. Additional focus areas include comprehensive sexuality education, adolescent skills development, adolescent health, sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, maternal and newborn health, health systems strengthening, community mobilization, vocational training, crime and violence prevention, protection services, shelter-related non-food items, and policy advocacy including South-South cooperation. The programme applies a human rights-based, gender-transformative, and “leaving no one behind” approach, prioritizing women and girls in rural and remote areas, adolescents, persons with disabilities, migrants, and other vulnerable populations.

Applications are invited from registered non-governmental organizations in Tajikistan with proven capacity to deliver interventions in the thematic areas outlined above. Eligible organizations must demonstrate strong institutional capacity, technical expertise, and experience working with vulnerable populations. Proposals will be assessed based on alignment with programme objectives, relevance of proposed activities, organizational capacity for monitoring and reporting, and potential for sustainable impact. Selected NGOs will enter into partnership agreements with UNFPA to support the achievement of results under the 2027–2030 Country Programme.
