The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is inviting applications to support the establishment and strengthening of child-friendly and safe community spaces in the Dominican Republic. The program aims to enhance protection and psychosocial support for children, adolescents, caregivers, and women affected by humanitarian crises, with a particular focus on populations impacted by migration, including Haitian families and their descendants.

Funding will support initiatives in key areas such as child protection, prevention and response to violence against children (VAC) and gender-based violence (GBV), emergency protection services, psychosocial support, community awareness campaigns, volunteer training, and gender-sensitive interventions. Projects must also integrate environmentally sustainable approaches.

The initiative will be implemented across multiple provinces, including Elías Piña, Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Barahona, Pedernales, Distrito Nacional, Azua, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, La Romana, Santiago, El Seibo, and La Altagracia. The program seeks to reach approximately 5,000 children, adolescents, and caregivers with mental health and psychosocial support services.

The indicative grant size is USD 150,000, with funding available for single-year projects. Supported activities include case management for VAC and GBV, community-based awareness campaigns, training of volunteers to identify and respond to violence, and the operation of safe spaces offering information, prevention measures, and access to essential services.

Eligible applicants include legally registered non-profit organizations, NGOs, and community-based organizations operating in the Dominican Republic. Applicants must demonstrate proven capacity to implement child protection and psychosocial support programs, with experience in community engagement and volunteer training. Proposals should reflect gender-sensitive and environmentally sustainable approaches and prioritize vulnerable populations, particularly children, adolescents, caregivers, and women affected by humanitarian crises and migration.

Organizations must be directly responsible for project implementation and able to comply with UNICEF’s established protocols for case management and community-based interventions. Multi-year funding is not available under this call; only single-year projects will be considered.
