The Halton Foundation is inviting applications from eligible non-profit organizations for grants that support research and solution development aimed at improving indoor environmental quality and human wellbeing.

The grants support indoor environmental quality, human wellbeing, indoor air quality, thermal comfort, research on indoor environmental quality, solution development for healthier indoor environments, and projects addressing illnesses linked to indoor environmental quality.

The Halton Foundation awards grants annually to non-profit organizations conducting research or developing solutions that improve indoor environments. The programme is open to applicants from around the world, with no geographic restrictions, and has previously supported projects across multiple continents in areas such as asthma, clean indoor environments, and university-led research.

Three types of grants are available under the programme. A One-Time Grant provides funding of up to USD 30,000 for a single-year research project or specific project deliverable. A Multi-Year Grant offers funding of up to USD 30,000 per year for a maximum of two years for longer-term research programmes, subject to approval by the Board of Directors. A Start-Up Program Grant provides seed funding to launch new programmes or initiatives focused on indoor environmental quality, with funding amounts varying according to the project.

Eligible applicants include universities, research institutes, registered charities, non-governmental organizations, and other registered non-profit organizations. Projects must directly address indoor environmental quality, indoor air quality, thermal comfort, or illnesses linked to indoor environmental quality. Commercial companies and other for-profit entities are not eligible to apply.

Applicants should note that administrative and overhead expenses are strictly limited to a maximum of 10 percent of the total project budget, and this requirement applies to all funded projects.
