Applications open for Terra Foundation Exhibition Grants
من نحن
The Terra Foundation Exhibition Grants (TFEG) 2026 support organizations worldwide in planning and implementing temporary loan exhibitions that broaden global understandings of American art and Indigenous North American art. The program fosters transformative encounters by encouraging projects that challenge traditional narratives, expand diverse perspectives, and generate new interpretive frameworks. Grants cover planning and implementation costs for exhibitions primarily featuring artworks not held in the applicant institution’s permanent collection. Eligible expenses include research, short-term staff positions, convenings, travel, advisory committees, interpretation, artist fees (excluding commissions), shipping, insurance, conservation, framing, temporary gallery construction, marketing, and dissemination of research in digital or print formats. Up to 25% of the award may support related staff positions, and up to 15% may cover indirect costs. Multilingual written materials are encouraged when relevant to audiences. Grant amounts typically range from $25,000 to $200,000, with an average award of $100,000.
معايير القبول
Applicants must be organizations with United States 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status or an international equivalent. Grants are not available to individuals, and only project organizers may apply. Institutions may not receive Exhibition Grants in two consecutive years if previously awarded, except when moving from planning to implementation for the same project. The program does not fund the creation or acquisition of artwork, capital expenditures, permanent equipment, exclusively online projects, or exhibitions that have already opened and are touring to new venues. Proposals will be evaluated on their ability to advance inclusive practices, engage diverse communities, and expand the breadth of American art histories.
