Call for Proposals: Private Sector Resilience Project (Afghanistan)
من نحن
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) invites proposals for the Private Sector Resilience Project (Sub-Component 2.1(a)) to support Afghanistan's apple, grape, pomegranate, and saffron value chains, aiming to foster market development, value addition, and job creation amid economic and humanitarian challenges. Operating nationwide, the 30-month program targets high-value, drought-tolerant crops to generate strong water-use returns, enhance competitiveness, and boost net sales and employment—with a particular focus on empowering women. Eligible activities include mobilizing value chain groups, delivering targeted technical assistance and training, administering matching grants ranging from USD 100,000 to USD 750,000 to finance approximately 50 percent of approved initiatives, and conducting rigorous implementation monitoring. A total funding pool of USD 3,450,000 is available under this call.
معايير القبول
Applicants may comprise academic and research institutions, private companies, international and national non-governmental organizations, non-UN intergovernmental organizations, and UN system entities registered in any country, provided they secure the necessary authorizations to operate in Afghanistan. Proposals must be submitted through a mandatory partnership of at least two companies featuring a designated lead registered company. Furthermore, the applicant or its designated local partner (subcontracted or sub-granted) must hold active accreditation with Afghanistan's Directorate of Non-Governmental Organizations under the Ministry of Economy. Evaluation considerations focus on the strength of the required corporate partnership, technical and operational capacity to execute nationwide agricultural value chain interventions, and the projected impact on market development, value addition, and job creation for women.
