The Advancing Global Health Annual Program Statement (AGH APS) 2026 supports projects that accelerate reductions in maternal and child mortality, infectious disease burden, and malnutrition through integrated health interventions in high-burden countries. Issued by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Global Health Security and Diplomacy, the program provides a supplemental funding framework for activities that complement and strengthen bilateral health agreements under the America First Global Health Strategy. A key focus is advancing the elimination and interruption of transmission of priority neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) through country-led, evidence-based, and strategically targeted interventions that strengthen health systems, improve efficiency, promote self-reliance, and enhance long-term program sustainability. Eligible activities may include preventive chemotherapy, mass drug administration, vector control, community-based prevention, screening and case detection, morbidity management, disability prevention, WASH interventions, integrated case management, surveillance strengthening, laboratory and supply chain capacity building, operational research, and the introduction of innovative tools to accelerate disease elimination. The program encourages collaboration among governments, local organizations, research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and private-sector actors to improve operational effectiveness and achieve sustainable health outcomes. Total funding of up to USD 162 million is available, subject to funding availability, with approximately 25 awards anticipated. For designated target countries, up to USD 115 million is available with up to 12 awards expected. Project activities should focus on high-burden geographies and vulnerable populations while supporting sustainable approaches to NTD elimination and long-term health system strengthening.

Organizations submitting Statements of Interest must demonstrate the technical, operational, and management capacity to implement large-scale, integrated global health programs in high-burden settings. Applicants should be capable of delivering evidence-based NTD interventions, strengthening health system functions, and supporting sustainable disease elimination efforts through country-led approaches. Competitive proposals will be evaluated based on their strategic alignment with the objectives of the APS, the quality and feasibility of the proposed intervention model, the potential for measurable impact on NTD elimination and broader health outcomes, the strength of partnerships and collaboration mechanisms, the integration of activities within existing health and community platforms, and the applicant’s ability to promote sustainability, efficiency, and local ownership. Particular consideration will be given to projects targeting high-impact geographies, vulnerable populations, and “last mile to elimination” challenges, as well as proposals that demonstrate innovative approaches and a clear pathway toward long-term disease elimination and program transition.
