The Living Legacy Grants (LLG) 2026 are offered by the Traditional Building Cultures Foundation to support projects that advance the study, documentation, preservation, conservation, transmission, and dissemination of traditional building cultures worldwide. Recognizing the interdisciplinary nature of traditional building heritage, the program welcomes diverse approaches that contribute to strengthening knowledge and practice in this field. Eligible activities may include research and documentation, print and digital publications, exhibitions, cultural mediation initiatives, training courses and workshops, educational and outreach programs, initiatives supporting the transmission of traditional building trades, audiovisual documentation and archives, development of digital tools and resources, and pilot or experimental projects. The program awards three grants of up to €3,000 each, which may cover all or part of a project’s budget and must be used exclusively for costs directly related to project implementation. Projects may be implemented in any geographic region and should demonstrate a clear contribution to the preservation and promotion of traditional building cultures.

Applications are open to individuals, associations, foundations, universities, research centers, cultural institutions, and other entities whose activities align with the objectives of the program. Proposals may be submitted by single applicants or collaborative groups and must be presented in either English or Spanish. Applicants are required to submit all requested documentation through the Foundation’s application portal, including a project description, budget, and applicant profile. Projects must demonstrate a direct connection to the goals of preserving, documenting, transmitting, or expanding knowledge of traditional building cultures. Initiatives primarily intended for commercial profit or those lacking clear relevance to the program’s objectives will not be considered. Proposals will be assessed based on their relevance to the program’s mission, the quality and feasibility of the proposed activities, and the appropriateness of the requested budget.
