Call for Expressions of Interest to Improve Early Nutrition Services and Healthy Diets in Muhanga (Burundi)
من نحن
The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) invites Expressions of Interest for a nutrition intervention project in Muhanga, Burundi, aimed at improving nutrition outcomes among infants and young children. The initiative responds to persistent acute malnutrition levels in the province, where rates remain above the World Health Organization alert threshold and access to diverse, nutritious diets is limited. The project seeks to strengthen the early identification and referral of acute malnutrition cases through community-based approaches, particularly the Family MUAC model, while promoting optimal infant and young child feeding practices, complementary feeding, breastfeeding support, and increased access to healthy and diverse foods. Expected results include enhanced community capacity to detect and refer malnutrition cases, improved feeding practices for young children, and greater availability and consumption of nutritious diets among vulnerable households. Activities should focus on community-based nutrition screening, nutrition education and awareness, breastfeeding promotion, complementary feeding support, and interventions that improve access to nutritious foods for vulnerable populations in Muhanga. Grant size and project duration will be determined by UNICEF under the terms of the selected partnership agreement.
