The Kenneth C. Frazier Award for Maternal Health Equity supports organizations advancing equitable access to quality maternal health care and improving maternal health outcomes for women and communities worldwide. Established in 2021 in honor of Kenneth C. Frazier’s leadership and commitment to maternal health equity, the annual award recognizes one organization each year for its contribution to safer and healthier pregnancy and childbirth experiences. The initiative focuses on strengthening maternal health systems, improving access to prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care, and addressing disparities in maternity care driven by unequal access to health services and broader social determinants of health. Through this global initiative, MSD aims to support sustainable, high-quality maternity care solutions that center the voices, lived experiences, and needs of women while promoting long-term improvements in maternal health outcomes and equitable care systems.

The award is intended for organizations demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing maternal health equity and improving access to quality maternity care. Eligible applicants should have a proven track record of implementing impactful maternal health initiatives, particularly those focused on prenatal, childbirth, and postpartum care, strengthening health systems, or addressing inequities in access to maternal health services. Applications are evaluated based on the organization’s contribution to improving maternal health outcomes, the sustainability and quality of its interventions, its focus on community-centered and women-led solutions, and its potential to create lasting and equitable improvements in maternal care for women and communities.
