من نحن

The Engineering X Skills for Safety Impact Grants, led by the Royal Academy of Engineering, aim to strengthen safer engineering practices worldwide, with a particular focus on lower- and middle-income countries. Since 2019, the programme has awarded over £2 million across twenty countries, supporting nearly forty organisations to enhance engineering capacity, reduce risks, and foster sustainable impact in regions most vulnerable to unsafe engineering practices.

This third open call supports projects that either scale existing interventions to improve engineering skills and safety capacity or expand partnerships and collaboration mechanisms to achieve safer engineering outcomes. Projects should align with the programme’s objectives and the priorities identified in the Global Engineering Capability Review (GECR) 2025, including fostering collaboration, using data to identify context-specific gaps, and enabling stakeholders—particularly industry—to adopt practices that protect life, property, and the environment.

Funding is available for individual organisations (up to £25,000) and consortia (up to £50,000), with a total pool of approximately £500,000. Consortia projects require matched funding of up to 20% of the total budget. Projects may last up to 15 months, beginning in December 2026 and concluding no later than 28 February 2028. Eligible activities include scaling skills and safety initiatives, building collaborative mechanisms, and implementing context-specific solutions that contribute to safer engineering systems.

معايير القبول

Applicants must be organisations based in one of the specified eligible countries. Consortia applications must include at least one co-applicant from a different organisation, with representation from the engineering industry. All funded activities must take place in eligible countries and clearly align with one or more of the grant’s objectives. Proposals will be assessed on their relevance to programme priorities, capacity to deliver impact, and alignment with the GECR 2025 framework.
