The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from organizations to implement community-based interventions aimed at preventing child marriage among adolescent girls in vulnerable communities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. With an indicative budget of USD 600,000, the initiative seeks to address the social, economic, and service-related factors that contribute to child marriage through community-driven and culturally relevant approaches. The project will strengthen and revitalize community-based child protection mechanisms, improve linkages to education, health, social protection, and birth registration services, and promote early identification and referral of at-risk girls. The program will engage families, grandparents, community influencers, and religious leaders to challenge harmful social norms, encourage girls’ education, and support delayed marriage. It will also establish safe platforms for adolescents to conduct research, participate in forums and peer learning activities, engage with decision-makers, and access psychosocial support and referral services when needed. Activities should focus on enhancing protection systems, community engagement, social and behavior change initiatives, adolescent participation, and the promotion of girls’ rights, safety, and wellbeing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Eligible applicants are organizations capable of designing and implementing community-based child protection and social change initiatives that address child marriage among adolescent girls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Applicants should demonstrate experience in community engagement, adolescent programming, child protection, referral systems, capacity development, and collaboration with local stakeholders, including religious and community leaders. Proposals should present culturally appropriate and sustainable approaches that encourage community ownership, strengthen local protection structures, and promote meaningful adolescent participation. Applications will be assessed based on their technical quality, relevance to the objectives of preventing child marriage, capacity to deliver integrated community-based interventions, and ability to achieve measurable outcomes for vulnerable adolescent girls and their communities.
