The Belize Fund has launched its 5th Call for Proposals for the 2026–2027 cycle to strengthen Belize’s coastal and marine environments while promoting sustainable blue economy livelihoods, resilient ecosystems, and improved stewardship of marine resources. The program supports projects in areas such as sustainable fishing practices, fisheries monitoring and traceability, community capacity building, climate adaptation, ecosystem restoration, pollution reduction, renewable energy, reef‑friendly tourism, circular economy initiatives, and sustainable marine biodiversity enterprises. Medium Grants range from BZ$50,000 to BZ$150,000 for projects lasting up to two years with a 10% co‑financing requirement, while Large Grants range from BZ$150,000 to BZ$500,000 for projects lasting two to three years with a 25% co‑financing requirement. Community Grants provide up to BZ$100,000 for projects lasting one to two years, with a 10% co‑financing requirement for grants above BZ$50,000. Target beneficiaries include coastal communities, fishing cooperatives, and innovative enterprises that promote women’s and youth participation. Eligible activities may include testing sustainable fishing gear, integrating vessel monitoring systems and satellite tracking, supporting citizen science initiatives, improving fisheries infrastructure, strengthening data collection, shoreline protection, reef restoration, pollution reduction, mariculture pilots, and the development of value‑added fisheries and biodiversity products such as nutraceuticals, cosmetics, crafts, and accessories.

For Regular Grants, applicants must be registered with the Belize Companies and Corporate Affairs Registry, have been operational in Belize for at least one year prior to application, and demonstrate proven project and financial management capacity. For Community Grants, applicants must also be registered with the Belize Companies and Corporate Affairs Registry, be located in a coastal community or area, and show at least one year of active operations with a functional governing or executive body that meets regularly.
