RFPs: Building Climate-Resilient Livelihoods in Marromeu, (Mozambique)
من نحن
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking an implementing partner to support a pilot initiative aimed at strengthening climate-resilient livelihoods for displaced households in the Nensa Resettlement Area of Marromeu District, Mozambique. Established following Cyclone Freddy, the resettlement area provides a safer environment for communities relocated from flood-prone locations; however, households continue to face challenges related to access to productive land, water resources, and sustainable livelihood opportunities. As part of the EU-funded Regional Response to Climate Displacement in Sub-Saharan Africa (RE2CLID) programme, the project will promote sustainable and climate-adaptive livelihood solutions through an integrated package of interventions. Proposed activities may include the development of a community irrigated production hub, climate-smart agriculture training, provision of agricultural inputs and productive assets, establishment of village savings and loan associations, nature-based solutions such as agroforestry and soil and water conservation, support for alternative livelihood opportunities, improved management of shared productive assets, and solar-powered water pumping where technically and financially feasible. The final project design and scale will be informed by ongoing market, livelihood, and feasibility assessments. The call does not specify an award amount.
