Applications Open: Grant Program for Japanese Studies
من نحن
The Japan Foundation invites overseas non-profit organizations to apply for the Grant Program for Japanese Studies 2027, designed to strengthen the field of Japanese studies internationally. The program supports a wide range of academic initiatives that foster deeper understanding of Japan, including research projects, conferences, lectures, publications, training opportunities, and acquisition of scholarly resources. Eligible activities may include organizing academic events, inviting scholars to deliver lectures, conducting joint research, publishing works that advance Japanese studies, and procuring books or materials essential for the discipline. Projects must be implemented between April 1, 2027 and March 31, 2028. Funding covers partial expenses such as international and domestic travel, accommodation, per diem, honoraria, meeting costs, and direct material purchases. The program excludes projects in natural sciences, commercial ventures, arts and cultural activities, or initiatives promoting specific doctrines or claims.
معايير القبول
Applicants must be overseas non-profit organizations, such as universities, academic institutions, or research centers engaged in Japanese studies. Institutions in Southeast Asia are directed to apply under the separate “Grant Program for Strengthening Research Networks to Co-create a Future with the Next Generation.” Proposals based on existing institutional partnerships, such as sister-school agreements, will be given lower priority. Individual applicants and for-profit entities are not eligible. Evaluation will consider the project’s contribution to advancing Japanese studies, innovation, and alignment with program objectives.
