RFAs: Promotion of Home Grown School Feeding through Local Production (Burkina Faso)
من نحن
The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking proposals from qualified non-governmental organizations to support the implementation and expansion of endogenous school canteens in the Bankui region of Burkina Faso. Building on WFP’s long-standing support to the Government of Burkina Faso in strengthening national school feeding and nutrition systems, this initiative aims to improve food security, nutrition, and educational outcomes through locally sourced school feeding models. The program promotes the procurement of safe, diverse, and nutritious foods from local producers, creating sustainable links between schools and local markets while strengthening community livelihoods. Target beneficiaries include schoolchildren, local farming communities, and other actors involved in school food systems within the intervention area. Activities may include the establishment and management of school gardens and school fields, installation and rehabilitation of water infrastructure, support for local food production and supply chains, community mobilization, nutrition and hygiene promotion, food quality monitoring, capacity building of school management structures, environmental initiatives such as reforestation and waste management, and measures that enhance resilience, livelihoods, and long-term sustainability. Through partnerships with local organizations, the initiative seeks to strengthen community ownership and ensure the effective and sustainable operation of school feeding interventions. Grant size and project duration were not specified in the call documentation.
